Honda TPS Calibration DIY Guide

To calibrate the voltage on the TPS Sensor, a sensor on the throttle body that tells the ECU where the throttle is positioned. Over time the Tps goes out of calibration and your car's performance suffers greatly for it. I was VERY impressed with the difference this made to my car. It increased throttle response, smoothly revving across the whole rev range and makes for a far enjoyable car to drive. If your car is around the 8 year old mark, you should DEFINATELY do this if you want better performance from your car and offcoarse, who dosen't?! Again, I can't emphasize how effective this is, a must do! THE TPS IS OVERLOOKED OR SHOULD I SAY NOT UNDERSTOOD BUT THE TPS HOLDS GREAT BENEFITS WHEN CALIBRATED. This can be performed by yourself, without help, no problem. This is being done on a d16y4. Steps: Remove the Throttle body - 4 bolts 3 sensors that just unplug (TPS, Map and IACV) 2 coolant hoses on the bottom, unclip the metal clamp and pull the ho...

Vacuum gauge:Reading And Interpretation

The complete lack of coverage on Vacuum gauges and their importance ....it isnt our fault ........changing times have prompted us to rely more on OBD scanners to diagnose engine problems where most of us forgot that the engine sitting nicely under our hood was still a hundred year old piece of marvel ......and before the days of the computer wizardry .......a competent mechanic using nothing more than your spark plug (colour) , compression tester and the vacuum gauge could track over a number of engine performance related issues today we will focus and talk about Vaccum gauges and how to use them....... Word of advice : Invest in one (buy one) Vacuum Gauge Though little understood, the vacuum gauge is probably the best single indicator of your engine's health you can get. When your car is idling-whether it's fuel injected or carbureted-the throttle plate or plates are restricting the amount of air the engine can breathe in. The pistons are attempting to ...

Engine port matching principles/basics

Engine Port Matching Principles and Basics Engine port matching helps make performance gains by making the airflow more streamlined. It is usually performed because the inlet and outlet ports on the engine block are usually larger than those of the manifolds that connect to them. This allows for scope in the manufacturing process to allow for mismatched alignment. Generally the engine ports are larger in the upstream flow direction avoiding turbulence but power gains can be made by matching these up. Most internal surfaces are far from smooth due to the casting process so small gains are there to be had by smoothing out the rough edges although polishing the insides offers little if any extra gain. Engines need to breathe as freely as possible and obstructions, seams and pits cause turbulence and this is not very good for airflow. Generally speaking most standard non performance cars will benefit greatly from even a little DIY head porting. A high performance engine ...

OBD-I ECU Chipping(honda)

This is diy can be applied on other cars as well following the same steps and using the correct chipset ! I want to start by saying the reason I chipped my ECU was to use my P28 to run my D15B setup more efficiently. For those of you who consider chipping your ECU to run your forced induction or after-market internal setups consider the price of a professional dyno tuning session. Base Maps are ONLY good for driving your car to a tuning shop and delicately at that. Chipping your ECU for performance gains from a lightly modified setup(such as intake, or exhaust systems) would only be achieved from a good tune, and then the gains would be out-weighed by the cost. The best idea is to figure out all the components you want in your setup, get it all together, install it, and then get it tuned, as any major change to a setup will require you to pay for another tuning session. What You'll need, OBD-I Chipping kit from Xenocron HondaLog Datalogging cable from Xenocron A p...
