Want to learn How to adjust a carburetor ? Read this Carburetor Adjustment Bible

- Timing can affect performance. Know where your timing is set before making carb adjustments. A couple of degrees can make a big difference in acceleration characteristics. Properly setting timing may cure ills without getting into carbs. Gearing can also be a significant factor.  - Exhaust pipes/baffles MUST be clean. Clogged pipes can kill top end. - Excess carbon on pistons can cloud tuning issues. - Air leaks and/or bad crank seals can affect tuning. A leak down test is strongly recommended. - Low compression can't be compensated for with tuning. - Change in fuel grades or blends can make tuning requirements change. It is best to use premium fuel. - Before making any adjustments be sure the carbs and jets are clean. That means ALL jets... pilot, needle jet, and main, are removed and inspected/cleaned. Carb body passageways should be blown out with brake cleaner or soaked in carb cleaner for several hours and blown out with compressed air. T...

Honda TPS Calibration DIY Guide

To calibrate the voltage on the TPS Sensor, a sensor on the throttle body that tells the ECU where the throttle is positioned. Over time the Tps goes out of calibration and your car's performance suffers greatly for it. I was VERY impressed with the difference this made to my car. It increased throttle response, smoothly revving across the whole rev range and makes for a far enjoyable car to drive. If your car is around the 8 year old mark, you should DEFINATELY do this if you want better performance from your car and offcoarse, who dosen't?! Again, I can't emphasize how effective this is, a must do! THE TPS IS OVERLOOKED OR SHOULD I SAY NOT UNDERSTOOD BUT THE TPS HOLDS GREAT BENEFITS WHEN CALIBRATED. This can be performed by yourself, without help, no problem. This is being done on a d16y4. Steps: Remove the Throttle body - 4 bolts 3 sensors that just unplug (TPS, Map and IACV) 2 coolant hoses on the bottom, unclip the metal clamp and pull the ho...

Vacuum gauge:Reading And Interpretation

The complete lack of coverage on Vacuum gauges and their importance ....it isnt our fault ........changing times have prompted us to rely more on OBD scanners to diagnose engine problems where most of us forgot that the engine sitting nicely under our hood was still a hundred year old piece of marvel ......and before the days of the computer wizardry .......a competent mechanic using nothing more than your spark plug (colour) , compression tester and the vacuum gauge could track over a number of engine performance related issues today we will focus and talk about Vaccum gauges and how to use them....... Word of advice : Invest in one (buy one) Vacuum Gauge Though little understood, the vacuum gauge is probably the best single indicator of your engine's health you can get.
